Data and privacy
The statistics engine runs in your browser. GitHub synchronization, the optional AI assistant, and website analytics are separate data flows.

Dataset processing
Dataset contents are processed locally in your browser and are not sent to stats.camp servers to execute commands. The browser-based engine reads data, performs calculations, and renders command results on your device.
Projects stored in your browser
Projects can be saved locally in this browser profile between visits. Local browser storage is tied to the browser and profile you use. Clearing site data, using private browsing, or changing browser profiles can make locally stored projects unavailable, so keep another copy of important work.
GitHub synchronization
When you explicitly sync a project to GitHub, the project contents are transmitted to GitHub. GitHub sign-in is also used for stats.camp accounts and synchronized projects. GitHub handles that information under its own terms and privacy practices.
Optional AI assistant
When you invoke the optional AI assistant, information is transmitted to the configured AI provider so it can answer and request analysis steps. This can include:
- your chat messages;
- project and dataset names;
- variable names, types, missing-value counts, labels, and small value-label sets;
- recent notebook commands and project file names; and
- outputs from commands the assistant requests while working.
Names, labels, commands, and command output can reveal sensitive information even when an entire dataset is not uploaded. Do not invoke the assistant for sensitive work unless you are comfortable sending that context to the configured provider.
Website analytics
stats.camp separately collects limited website-usage information. This may include a pseudonymous visitor identifier, pages visited, referral information, IP address, and browser information. Website analytics are separate from the local processing used to execute statistical commands.
